About sBooks
sBooks are a technology and a movement to change the way that people read and engage with complex information. We love books and technology and want their combination to be simply amazing. Readers, authors, and publishers are engaged in an age-old process of collective thinking and dreaming. We believe that new technologies will enable us to amplify and sustain this process and that the future of our species requires that we do so. sBooks are our contribution to that effort and this blog tracks the paths being blazed.
beingmeta is leading the development of sBooks by develo
ping technology and bringing its own technologies (mostly semantic knowledge bases and natural language processing) into the mix. beingmeta is a privately-held spinoff of the MIT Media Laboratory founded in 2001 and based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Ken Haase is a founder of beingmeta and currently the chief developer of sBooks. Ken has a background in artificial intelligence, natural languages and interfaces, and philosophy. In addition to many years on the faculty of the MIT Media Laboratory, Ken has helped launch or lead several research laboratories around the world.
